Ochre Space is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring the work of Japanese photographer Shoko Hashimoto. Born in Ishinomaki in 1939 and a Nihon University’s Faculty of Art graduate in 1964, Hashimoto gained acclaim with his book Goze, which won the Newcomer Award from the Photographic Society of Japan in 1974. This exhibition will showcase Hashimoto’s compelling series documenting blind women performers in rural Japan during the late 1960s - the Goze.

MAGNUM PHOTOS WORKSHOP 2024
Photographing From the Inside: Workshop with Carolyn Drake and Sabiha Çimen
From July 8–12, we hosted a five-day workshop in Lisbon with Magnum photographers Carolyn Drake and Sabiha Çimen. Participants immersed themselves in Lisbon's rich history and culture, creating new works daily under the photographers' guidance. The workshop included discussions, group critiques, and sessions on editing and sequencing, culminating in unique, personalised photographic projects.
MAGNUM PHOTOS WORKSHOP 2023
From July 10–14, 2023, we hosted the "Follow Your Intuition" workshop in Lisbon, Portugal, led by photographers Newsha Tavakolian and Bieke Depoorter. Participants learned to forge deeper connections with their subjects and topics, focusing on shooting from the heart and creating meaningful images by following their intuition. The five-day workshop provided guidance on capturing authentic moments, encouraging photographers to move beyond external expectations and develop their unique visual storytelling style.
