OCHRE SPACE is a new space in Lisbon, in Ajuda, near the Ajuda Palace, dedicated to contemporary photography and video art. It’s not a traditional commercial gallery.

It is the studio of curator and photographer João Miguel Barros, which is regularly open to the public for exhibitions, workshops and talks. OCHRE SPACE houses his personal library of around three thousand photography books, which can be consulted by researchers or others in special situations.
OCHRE SPACE has strong links with Chinese and Japanese photography, and this DNA will allow it to promote the great masters of Asian photography, as well as selling photographs and books that are hard to find in Lisbon.
OCHRE SPACE has a partnership with MAGNUM PHOTOS to hold two simultaneous workshops in Lisbon every year, during the second week of July.
